Pune: IAS officer Puja Khedkar’s private vehicle was fined ₹27,400 for multiple traffic violations, including displaying "Government of Maharashtra" and installing an amber beacon on her car. Following the controversy, her driver paid the entire fine at the Nigdi Traffic Division.
Khedkar, who has been in the news for various reasons recently, had "Government of Maharashtra" written on the front and back of her private Audi car (MH12 AR 7000) and an amber beacon mounted on top. Traffic police acted against her vehicle under Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The hefty fine of ₹27,400 was imposed for several previous violations, which her driver subsequently paid in full at Nigdi.
While managing traffic at Bhakti Shakti Chowk in Nigdi, traffic police officer Mudashir Musheer, also known as Aslam Thanedar, was approached by Khedkar’s driver. The driver informed the officer about the fine and promptly paid the amount.
Inspector Shankar Babar of the Nigdi Traffic Division stated, "While regulating traffic at Bhakti Shakti Chowk in Nigdi, Khedkar’s driver paid the entire fine amount to an officer of the Nigdi Traffic Division."
The Pune Traffic Police had impounded the Audi car belonging to trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar on Sunday (July 14) morning. The car has been parked at the Chatuhshrungi Traffic Division for further investigation and document verification.
This action follows allegations that Khedkar was using an amber light on her personal vehicle, contrary to central government regulations for officers.
The car is registered under Thermoverita Engineering Private Limited, with the registered user’s address listed as Shivane village in Haveli Taluka. The car had 21 unpaid challans with total compounding charges of ₹27000. To expedite the investigation, the company was instructed to bring the car to the police station.
