Pune: An RTO officer allegedly harassed toll booth staff at the Undavadi Supe toll plaza in Baramati around noon today. The officer, who arrived in an official vehicle with a red beacon, reportedly reprimanded a toll booth employee and his manager over an incident that occurred three days earlier.

The officer demanded identification from the staff and later forced the employee to perform sit-ups on the road, humiliating him in front of onlookers. The officer then left the scene before anyone could fully comprehend what had happened.

Three days ago, the same RTO officer, while traveling in his private vehicle, was heading towards Patas when he was stopped at this toll booth by employee Sandeep Londhe, who requested the officer to pay the toll.

Despite the officer identifying himself, Londhe asked for his ID for verification. This seemingly offended the officer, and to confront the situation, the RTO officer arrived at noon today, accompanied by four uniformed personnel in the government vehicle with a red beacon. He sought revenge for the previous incident. This was the talk of the town for the entire day.

Regarding this incident, the toll booth manager, Santosh Khapre, said, "Despite our innocence, the RTO officer harassed us using threatening language. We even apologized, yet our employee was humiliated. We have informed our superiors about the incident. We have CCTV footage and will file a formal complaint with the police and the senior officers at the RTO."
