Pune: In the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) housing project, 1,693 beneficiaries of residential units and 20 shop owners have not completed the mandatory lease and documentation process, prompting PMRDA to intensify follow-up efforts.

The administration is actively surveying properties and urging these beneficiaries to finalize their leases and pay any pending dues.

Originally developed by the erstwhile Pimpri-Chinchwad New Town Development Authority with funding from HUDCO, these housing projects were merged into PMRDA.

Beneficiaries were expected to complete repayment of installments by 2005, but many failed to comply, leaving lease and documentation processes incomplete. This has resulted in ongoing issues for beneficiaries, who now face hurdles due to the lack of official lease agreements.

PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase has called on beneficiaries to expedite the lease and documentation process, noting that special schemes to facilitate this were offered in both 2008 and 2019, but many beneficiaries did not respond.

Surveys of the properties have been conducted, and notices issued, with clear instructions for beneficiaries to complete the lease process promptly. Additionally, any transfer of units to other parties requires formal completion of the transfer process according to PMRDA regulations.

Survey Findings in Key Areas

Surveys conducted by PMRDA revealed significant numbers of properties lacking completed leases: 1,078 in Zone 2, 249 in Zone 21, 118 in Zone 25, 78 in Zone 27A, and 170 in Zone 28, along with 20 shops in Zone 2, making a total of 1,713 properties.

Direct inspections have been conducted, and beneficiaries have been urged to clear any outstanding amounts and complete the lease process as soon as possible.

Deputy Collector Himmat Kharade of the PMRDA Housing Project emphasized that continued follow-up is underway to ensure compliance and to resolve any ongoing issues with documentation and lease finalization.
