Bhosari: The unfinished Urban Street project under the Rajmata Jijau flyover in Bhosari poses a significant threat to the lives of residents.
Despite multiple notifications to the administration, no action has been taken, resulting in the death of an innocent citizen. Former Standing Committee Chairman Ajit Gawhane has demanded that the negligent contractors and officials be charged with culpable homicide.
Ajit Gawhane made this demand through a memorandum to Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh. In this memorandum, Gawhane mentioned that the Municipal Corporation had planned to build Urban Street under the Rajmata Jijau flyover in Bhosari, spending over ₹42 crores.
The project, funded by taxpayers' money, was carried out with substandard quality, and then the work was left incomplete. The neglected work has exposed iron rods, causing injuries to citizens.
On Friday, this negligence resulted in a tragic accident. A citizen's vehicle slipped in front of the Maruti showroom in Gawhane Vasti, Bhosari, causing the person to fall onto an exposed iron rod, which pierced through their chest.
They were seriously injured and taken to the hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. Previously, similar incidents had injured other citizens due to these exposed rods. The Urban Street project has now become a severe threat to the public's safety.
Gawhane has demanded an investigation into all these accidents and that the responsible contractors and officials be charged with culpable homicide.
He also insisted that immediate safety measures be implemented under the Bhosari flyover to prevent further accidents, warning that otherwise, protests would be organized.
