Intoxicated Driver’s Car Crashes into ACP’s Vehicle in Koregaon Park

The driver has been identified as 32-year-old Prafull Bharat Wade from Vishrantwadi.

Pune: In an incident raising concerns over reckless driving, a car driven by an intoxicated driver collided with the vehicle of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Anuja Deshmane on duty on Monday (October 28) afternoon.

The collision occurred around 3:30 p.m. at Mahatma Gandhi Chowk in Koregaon Park, Pune. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Prafull Bharat Wade from Vishrantwadi, not only lacked a valid driving license but also argued with the officers following the crash.

According to the complaint lodged by Police Constable Manojkumar Tukaram Sone, Wade has been charged at Koregaon Park Police Station.

The police report indicates that the Assistant Commissioner of Police, along with two officers, was traveling from Yerawada to Khadki when Wade, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, failed to apply brakes, leading to a rear-end collision with the police vehicle near Bund Garden Bridge. Although no one was injured, the police vehicle suffered damage.

Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Avhale has been assigned to further investigate the incident and examine the driver's condition and conduct at the scene.

In a recent checkpoint incident in Pune’s Kalyaninagar area, Yerawada police have charged a drunk driver, Chirag Rajendra Mundada, with assaulting a police constable during a routine traffic inspection. The incident took place near Bishop School around midnight on Friday (October 25)

Constable Sandeep Khandagale from the Yerawada Traffic Branch was on duty with his colleagues at the checkpoint in Kalyaninagar when he stopped Mundada’s vehicle for a routine inspection.

Mundada, found to be intoxicated, resisted the check, snatching the mobile device from Constable Khandagale and pushing him during the altercation.
