Pune: In a bizarre turn of events, a dog was stolen by two motorcycle-borne thieves in Pune on Sunday (July 21) evening, leaving residents and authorities puzzled.
The theft, which occurred around 6 PM near Maini Tower at Gujarwadi Phata on Satara Road, involved a Boxer breed dog named Jackie, owned by Sidaksing Vimitsing Maini.
Unlike typical thefts involving gold jewelry or mobile phones, the thieves targeted the dog, causing a stir in the Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station area.
Sidaksing Vimitsing Maini, the dog's owner, filed a complaint, prompting the police to register a case against the unknown culprits. The incident, captured on CCTV, showed the thieves using an auto-rickshaw to make their escape with the dog.
According to the police, complainant Sidaksing Maini has a battery warehouse in the Gujarwadi Phata area. Maini had kept a Boxer breed dog. He had let the dog roam around the office as usual in the evening.
The motorcycle-borne thief first approached the dog and then stole it with the help of an auto-rickshaw that was parked nearby. This incident was captured on CCTV. The dog's name is Jackie.
Following the incident, Maini announced a cash reward of 25,000 rupees for any information leading to the recovery of Jackie. He expressed his distress over the theft, highlighting the deep bond he shares with his pet. "Jackie is like family to us. We are desperate to get him back," Maini stated.
This unprecedented incident has raised several questions among the local community. The motive behind the dog theft is unclear, and the residents are eager for answers.
Meanwhile, the police are examining the CCTV footage for clues and appealing to the public for any information that might help in tracing the dog and apprehending the culprits.
