Pune: In a shocking case of revenge, a man allegedly tracked down and murdered his former lover three years after she married someone else.
The victim, Gauri Lanesh Are (25), was brutally attacked with a machete by Amol Dilip Kamble (25), a former classmate who had been searching for her ever since she got married. The incident took place in the Kalas Malwadi area of Pune.
According to the Vishrantwadi Police, Gauri had been living in Kalas after her marriage, while her in-laws resided in Pimpalner, Beed district.
Amol, who had a romantic relationship with Gauri before her marriage, was enraged when she chose to marry another man. Determined to confront her, he made several attempts over the years to locate her.
His search came to an end when he discovered that Gauri was residing in Kalas. Last night, at around 8:15 PM, Gauri was returning home with a friend on the road near Trinity School in Kalas Malwadi when Amol ambushed her. He struck her on the head with a machete, leaving her critically injured.
She was rushed to the hospital, but despite doctors’ efforts, she succumbed to her injuries at 7 AM the following morning. The Vishrantwadi Police have arrested the accused, Amol Kamble.
DCP Himmat Jadhav stated that the investigation is ongoing, and the accused is currently in police custody.
