Pune: Dairy farmers across Pune district have received a boost ahead of Diwali with a special payout from the Pune District Cooperative Milk Producers Union.
Based on last year’s profit of three crore rupees, the union awarded one rupee per liter to milk producers, distributing a total of six crore forty-three lakh rupees into farmers' accounts.
Along with this additional payment, the union paid out the regular ten-day milk bill, amounting to five crore eighty lakh rupees. In total, the union disbursed twelve crore twenty-three lakh rupees to district dairy farmers this festive season.
The union’s employees also received a special Diwali bonus, with a distribution totaling one crore eighty-two lakh rupees at a rate of 8.33 percent.
The strong demand for Katraj Dairy products has contributed to rising profits, prompting the union to offer its festive sweets gift pack range this year.
With last year’s sales at thirty tons, the union expects to meet an increased demand of around fifty tons this Diwali season. This expansion demonstrates Katraj Dairy’s preparation to meet customer demand, officials stated.
Katraj Dairy operates as a cooperative, supporting dairy farmers in Pune under Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s guidance. The organization dedicates seventy percent of its profits to advancing the welfare of district farmers.
The union assures that all Katraj milk and dairy products maintain one hundred percent purity. Pune District Milk Union Chairman Bhagwan Pasalkar appealed to consumers to choose Katraj products to support the growth and success of local farmers.
