Pune: The Khadakwasla Assembly constituency has completed all preparations for the upcoming elections, with the voter count now standing at 569,222, an increase of 31,191 voters since the last Lok Sabha elections.
The update was provided by Dr. Yashwant Mane, the Election Officer and Sub-Divisional Officer of the Khadakwasla Assembly constituency.
The election office for Khadakwasla has been set up at the Ambegaon Budruk campus of Sinhgad Technical College, adjacent to the Central Library.
A press conference was held at the office, attended by Assistant Election Officer and Tehsildar Kiran Survase, Group Development Officer Bhushan Joshi, and various nodal officers responsible for different sectors of the constituency.
All election activities, including the sale, submission, and withdrawal of nomination forms, scrutiny, and handling of EVMs, will take place at the Sinhgad Technical College campus.
However, the vote counting is scheduled to occur on November 23 at the warehouse in Koregaon Park. Dr. Mane highlighted that the constituency has a total of 507 polling stations, for which 2,800 officials and staff members have been appointed.
He confirmed that none of the polling stations have been classified as sensitive, ensuring a secure environment for the voting process. Police personnel have been deployed in both urban and rural areas to maintain order.
Nodal officers have been assigned to monitor adherence to the Model Code of Conduct, with mobile monitoring teams active in Katraj, Warje (Kothrud), and rural Khadakwasla.
Fixed surveillance teams will also be stationed at strategic locations such as the Khed Shivapur Toll Plaza, NDA Road (Point No. 10), under Wadgaon Budruk Bridge, and the Bhusari Colony area in Kothrud.
To ensure polling staff is well-prepared, training sessions are scheduled for October 26 and 27 at the Sinhgad campus. Dr. Mane announced that eight new polling stations will be set up in housing societies within urban areas, bringing the total number of polling stations to 19 in these locations.
Following the Election Commission of India's guidelines, all polling stations will be located on the ground floor, and measures have been taken, including erecting tents, to protect the stations from rain.
