Pune: A girl studying in third-grade at a school in Kharadi, has reported being sexually assaulted by a man at her school.

The incident was uncovered when the child confided in her mother about the inappropriate behavior, leading to a swift police response and a case being registered at the Chandan Nagar Police Station.

The case came to light on October 1st, when the victim's mother was educating her about the concepts of good and bad touch.

During this discussion, the girl revealed that a man, whom she identified as Sanjay Sir, had inappropriately touched her near the restroom at her school.

Acting on this alarming disclosure, the mother went to the school on October 3rd and informed the principal. The school management, understanding the gravity of the situation, immediately alerted the Damini Squad, a specialized police unit for the protection of women and children.

The squad promptly responded by registering a case of sexual assault and initiating a thorough investigation into the matter. The young girl was subsequently shown photographs of school staff members to identify the alleged perpetrator.

However, she pointed out that the individual responsible for the assault was not a regular staff member, heightening concerns that an outsider may have committed the crime. CCTV footage from the school premises has been collected by the authorities to aid in identifying the suspect.

Leading the investigation, Sub-Inspector Patil confirmed that the police are actively searching for the accused and are analyzing all available evidence, including the CCTV recordings.
