Pune: In a significant breakthrough, Pune Police have successfully solved the case of the decapitated body found in the Mutha Riverbed in the Kharadi area on August 26.
The deceased has been identified as Sakina Khan, who was murdered by her brother Ashpak Khan and his wife Hamida over a property dispute.
Sakina Khan resided in a room in the Patil Estate area, which was in her name. The ownership of the property had been a source of considerable tension between her and her brother and sister-in-law.
The dispute escalated, leading to her brutal murder. The accused dismembered her body in the room using a sharp weapon and disposed of the body parts in the Mutha River.
The police were alerted when neighbors, suspicious of Sakina Khan's sudden disappearance, lodged a complaint at the Shivajinagar Police Station.
From the day of the murder, the accused had misled the neighbors by claiming that Sakina had gone to her native place. However, the neighbors' suspicions, coupled with the police's prompt investigation, led to the arrest of Ashpak Khan and Hamida.
Based on the evidence gathered from the crime scene, the police uncovered the gruesome details of the crime. The Pune Police have been praised for their diligent work in solving this case.
