Pune: The police custody at Rajgurunagar's Khed Police Station, located within the Khed Tehsil office, was flooded with water following heavy rains over the past two days.
Though there were no detainees in custody, the police officers on duty faced a chaotic situation as knee-deep water entered the lockup due to inadequate drainage systems in the city. The officers had to remain alert and active throughout the night to manage the situation.
The heavy downpour has highlighted the ongoing issue of slow and untimely drainage works on the roads of Rajgurunagar. These works, which have been dragging on for many days, are now a major concern for the health and safety of the citizens.
Contractors initiated these projects during the monsoon season, exacerbating the problems caused by the heavy rains.
In addition to flooding the police lockup, the rains have caused waterlogging on many roads in the city, with rainwater and sewage entering several houses and shops. The improper water flow management has led to significant inconvenience and distress for the residents of Rajgurunagar.
