Pune: The Khedkar family has preemptively dismantled an encroachment they had made on a pedestrian pathway outside their home in Baner, Pune, thus avoiding punitive measures from the Pune Municipal Corporation.

Their bungalow in the National Housing Society had an illegally constructed 60-foot wall on the pedestrian path, which was beautified with various plants.

The municipal corporation had received a complaint about this encroachment, leading the road department officials to issue a notice to the bungalow under the name of Manorama Khedkar, mother of Pooja.

Manorama Khedkar resides in plot number 112 of the National Housing Society in Baner. She has constructed a three-foot wide, two-foot high, and sixty-foot long structure on the sidewalk adjacent to her row house, which has been deemed unauthorized.

The notice demanded the removal of the encroachment within seven days, with the deadline set for Sunday, (July 21). However, the Khedkar family acted ahead of the deadline and removed the construction on Wednesday (July 17). Aniruddha Pawaskar, the head of the road department, confirmed this action.

The Khedkar family troubles are far from over yet. A case has been registered against Manorama Khedkar at the Paud Police Station for allegedly threatening a farmer in Mulshi Taluka during a land possession dispute in 2022.

Chatuhshrungi traffic police have also impounded the Audi car belonging to Khedkar family for probe into the illegal use beacon on the private vehicle.

IAS Puja Khedkar had attracted attention for demanding a separate office and using a luxurious vehicle with red and blue lights, among other issues. Puja also allegedly used a fake disability certificate to clear the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam and secure her government job.
