Pune: The land measurement process required for the widening of the Katraj-Kondhwa road has reached a critical stage, with another phase recently completed.

This progress brings new hope for speeding up the much-needed road expansion project, which aims to address the area's persistent accident issues.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had initiated the land survey in Kondhwa, which is now nearing completion, after previously facing delays.

The Katraj-Kondhwa road has long been a source of concern due to frequent accidents caused by narrow lanes, steep gradients, sharp curves, and a lack of regular maintenance.

These factors have led to repeated accidents, prompting frustration among local residents. In response, the PMC incorporated the road-widening initiative into its broader development plan, and for the past year, has been actively working to acquire the necessary land. However, the process was delayed due to landowners’ demands for cash compensation.

Last month, the land measurement for the road widening, which stretches from Rajas Society Chowk in Katraj to Pisoli village, began.

The survey covered 100 properties in Katraj, marking a significant step forward in the project.

Despite the progress in Katraj, technical challenges caused delays in beginning the land survey in Kondhwa. However, the PMC's road and property departments, in coordination with the Haveli Land Records Department, have now started the land survey in Kondhwa.

Officials expect the survey to be completed within the next five to ten days, after which the project is likely to proceed at a faster pace.

“The joint land measurement process in Kondhwa is currently underway. Once the survey is complete, the report will be submitted to the municipal corporation,” confirmed Amarsingh Patil, Deputy Superintendent of the Haveli Land Records Department.
