Pune: Ujjwal Keskar, former BJP corporator from Kothrud, held discussions today with Sambhajiraje, president of the Maharashtra Swarajya Party, to discuss development issues in Pune and potential political roles.
During the meeting, Keskar was offered a proposal to contest from the Kothrud assembly constituency representing the Maharashtra Swarajya Party.
According to Sambhajiraje, a final decision on the matter is expected to be made public by tomorrow. Sambhajiraje disclosed this development in a press conference, emphasizing the party's intent to strengthen its representation.
The Maharashtra Swarajya Party also saw notable additions, with Deepak Kedar, national president of the All India Panther Sena, and Yashwant Nadgam, national president of the Dalit Panther movement established by the late Namdev Dhasal, joining the party.
During the induction, Sambhajiraje announced that Nadgam would represent the party as the candidate for the Pune Cantonment Assembly seat.
This development, Sambhajiraje stated, aligns with the party's commitment to amplifying Bahujan representation and fostering alliances inspired by the legacy of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Sambhajiraje expressed that this partnership brings new strength to the party, which had previously lacked Bahujan community representation.
Commenting on his own political aspirations, Sambhajiraje stated he would not contest from Kolhapur but was considering potential constituencies in Nashik or Marathwada, though a final decision is yet to be made. "If I contest, I may be confined to one constituency, so I am taking time to decide carefully," he added.
Deepak Kedar expressed his reasons for joining the Maharashtra Swarajya Party, highlighting past associations with Sharad Pawar's party during the Lok Sabha elections.
Despite positive outcomes, Kedar voiced dissatisfaction over the lack of seat allocation discussions from the opposing party’s leadership.
"Jayant Patil made no efforts to negotiate seat allocations with us. The state needs change, and joining Sambhajiraje’s party aligns with that vision," Kedar remarked, mentioning Mehkar and Kej as possible constituencies for his candidacy.
Dr. Dhananjay Jadhav, general secretary of the Maharashtra Swarajya Party, reinforced the commitment of party members to support Sambhajiraje’s candidacy. He stated, “If Sambhajiraje stands from Nashik, Yeola, or any other area, we will fully support him. The support network is robust, and we are prepared to rally behind him for a decisive win.”
