Pune: In a shocking incident in the Kothrud area, an elderly woman was drugged with sedatives mixed in lemonade, leading to the theft of her gold jewelry, cash, and mobile phone, totaling ₹1.56 lakh.
The Alankar Police have registered a case against a woman suspect named Sonali, who is accused of carrying out the robbery.
According to the complaint, the elderly woman, who resides near Dandekar Bridge, was approached by the suspect on September 27 near the Mirch Masala Hotel in Kothrud.
The suspect gained the woman's trust by offering to help her find work. After establishing familiarity, the suspect offered the elderly woman lemonade, which had been spiked with a sedative.
Once the woman became unconscious, the suspect transported her to the Hadapsar area on a two-wheeler and proceeded to steal her gold jewelry, cash, and mobile phone.
The total value of the stolen items was estimated to be ₹1.56 lakh. The suspect abandoned the elderly woman in the Bhakerainagar area of Hadapsar and fled.
Upon regaining consciousness, the elderly woman sought assistance from locals, who informed her that she was in Hadapsar. She then alerted her family and received medical treatment before filing a complaint with the police.
