Pune: In a significant incident highlighting the consequences of improper waste disposal, a young man in Kothrud faced disciplinary action after he was caught dumping garbage on a public roadside.
The event unfolded in Dnyaneshwar Colony, where the municipal authorities stepped in and ensured that the individual cleaned the area he had littered.
The young man was seen dumping waste while traveling from Ashish Garden to Badhai Chowk. Health inspectors Salim Pathan, Sairaj Dubale, Rohan Jadhav, and cleanliness coordinator Sohan Khilare noticed the act and immediately confronted him.
Instead of cooperating, the man responded with verbal abuse and started arguing with the officials.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Vaijnath Gaikwad, a supervisor from the solid waste management department, swiftly reported the incident to the police.
The police arrived on the scene and reprimanded the young man for his inappropriate behavior. As part of the lesson, the man was made to perform squats as a form of punishment and was further instructed to pick up the garbage he had thrown and take it home.
According to Vaijnath Gaikwad, the young man became angry when asked not to dump the garbage and began behaving arrogantly. However, once the police intervened, the man realized his mistake, apologized to the municipal workers, and voluntarily cleaned the area using a broom.
