Pune: A landslide occurred in Dive Ghat on Thursday (October 23) evening at around 5:30 PM, disrupting traffic but causing no injuries.

Heavy rainfall in the region has activated mountain springs, making the soil slippery and prone to landslides.

The incident occurred on the third bend while traveling from Wadki towards Saswad.

As a safety precaution, trenches had been dug along the mountainside, but the magnitude of the landslide brought large rocks onto the road, blocking one lane.

While travelers managed to remove smaller stones, the larger boulders required assistance from local authorities. Traffic was reduced to a single lane, causing a one-kilometer-long traffic jam on both sides of the ghat.

Local resident Pravin Modak urged tourists and travelers to exercise caution when driving through the ghat, as the ongoing rainfall has increased the likelihood of more landslides in the area.

Authorities are working to clear the road and restore normal traffic flow, while officials continue to monitor the situation for further safety concerns.

Recently, on July 6, travelers in Dive Ghat had a startling encounter with a leopard. The sighting prompted warnings from the villagers of Wadki to be vigilant while traveling through the area.
