Pune: Continuous rainfall over the past two days has caused a landslide on the Sinhagad Fort trail early Sunday (July 14) morning, leading to a closure of the path. The Forest Department has issued a warning urging tourists to exercise caution while visiting the area.
With the onset of the rainy season, many Pune residents are venturing outdoors, leading to crowded tourist spots. Sinhagad Fort, a favorite destination among Puneites, typically sees large crowds, especially on Sundays. The number of tourists visiting forts has been increasing steadily.
However, the rainy season also brings the risk of landslides in the fort areas, and tourists are advised to avoid using the trails during such times.
Hundreds of tourists traverse the Sinhagad trail daily. A video of the landslide that occurred early Sunday morning has gone viral, showing large boulders obstructing the path. This is the first recorded landslide on this trail, emphasizing the need for tourists to be cautious.

The continuous downpour has loosened rocks, making landslides more likely and increasing the danger of accidents. Tourists are advised to avoid sitting or taking photos on rocks, as they may become dislodged and lead to accidents.
