Pune: In a decisive action against illegal liquor production, the Lonikand Police raided a makeshift distillery near a stream in Wadegaon, seizing and destroying equipment and materials used for making country liquor.

During the raid, the police used JCB machinery to dismantle the distillation units. Chemicals found on site were capable of producing 38,000 liters of liquor, with an estimated value of 16 lakh rupees. In a related operation, the Crime Branch Unit Six seized liquor worth 2.7 lakh rupees and took action against three liquor sellers.

In the Wadegaon case, charges have been filed against one individual. The Crime Branch Unit Six also targeted three sellers in the Bakori Road area, who were found selling liquor from makeshift tin sheds in the Dream Sankalp Society and IV Estate Society areas.

Liquor was also found in a car during the operation. Additionally, the Lonikand Police acted against a seller in the Chokhi Dani area.

Senior Police Inspector Sawalaram Salgaonkar, Assistant Police Inspector Chetan Thorbole, and Police Inspector Ulhas Kadam of Unit Six led the operation, which underscores the commitment of the Lonikand Police to crack down on illegal liquor activities in the region.
