Pune: A lingering resentment over a love marriage led to a violent altercation in Hadapsar, resulting in the arrest of three individuals, including the father-in-law of the victim. The incident occurred on Wednesday (August 7) evening at the Mega Center car market.

The 27-year-old complainant, a resident of Kalepadal, had married the daughter of Rajendra Dagdu Bankar, 50, last year against her family's wishes.

Based on his complaint, the police have arrested Rajendra Dagdu Bankar, Sopan Shinde (26 years old), and Ganesh Shinde (30 years old, both residents of Siddhatek, Daund taluka).

According to the police, the complainant married Rajendra Bankar's daughter last year in a love marriage, which upset Bankar. He frequently verbally abused the complainant.

On Wednesday evening, Bankar called the complainant and said that his anger had subsided, and invited him and his wife to meet and reconcile.

Accordingly, the complainant, along with his wife, went to Papashet Pathan's shop at the Mega Center car market. There, Rajendra Bankar, along with his two nephews, Sopan Shinde and Ganesh Gaikwad, were present. While talking, Bankar began to verbally abuse the couple.

The situation escalated when they began threatening and assaulting the complainant. During the altercation, Sopan Shinde hit the complainant on the head with a glass bottle, causing him to bleed profusely.

The complainant started shouting for help, and onlookers intervened and rescued him. The complainant sustained a head injury that required three stitches. Constable Umesh Mankar is investigating the case.
