Pune: In a significant move ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, Dr. Sachin Bodhani, the President of the Maharashtra Brahmin Sabha, has formally approached Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP State President Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
He has demanded that a minimum of 30 assembly seats be allocated to the Brahmin community. The petition emphasizes the need for the community's political representation and warns against the dangers of taking the Brahmin community for granted.
The Brahmin community has a long history of unwavering support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and expresses complete confidence in its leadership.
However, with the current political climate, the need for significant representation of the Brahmin community in the state is more pressing than ever.
The community represents a decisive voter base in 45 assembly constituencies across Maharashtra, and it is imperative that at least 30 of these seats are designated for Brahmin candidates.
Dr. Bodhani highlighted the availability of potential candidates in key constituencies, including Kothrud, Kasba, Chinchwad, Thane, and Kalyan-Dombivli, who are capable of securing victory.
The names of these candidates will be disclosed at the appropriate time. He expressed concern over the recent attempts to destabilize the social fabric of the state, particularly targeting the Brahmin community.
In this context, the need for the Brahmin community to assume a political role has become crucial. The community has consistently supported Hindutva and stood firmly by the BJP.
Dr. Bodhani assured that this support would remain steadfast in the future. However, he issued a warning that if the community is denied candidacies this election cycle, it may be forced to reassess its position.
