Pune: The Maharashtra government has announced that all officers, employees, and retired staff from state-approved and aided educational institutions, agricultural universities, non-agricultural universities, and affiliated colleges will receive their salaries and pensions by October 25.
This timely disbursement ensures that payments are completed ahead of Diwali, providing financial relief to employees.
The state’s finance department issued a directive confirming this decision.
The order is linked to the ongoing transition of data management and hosting responsibilities, which includes several of Maharashtra’s financial systems such as Treasury Net, Beams, Bill Portal, Sevaarth, GRAS, Pension Portal, and others.
Managed by the Directorate of Accounts and Treasury, these systems are being transferred from Tata Communications to Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation (MITC).
Since this transition process involves extensive technical adjustments, the finance department announced that these systems would be temporarily offline during the last week of October.
To prevent any delay caused by the system shutdown, the department has authorized the disbursement of October’s salaries and pensions by October 25.
The Directorate of Accounts and Treasury has issued instructions to all district treasury and sub-treasury offices across the state to complete the necessary procedures to ensure timely payment.
In a relief to hourly-wage assistant professors across the Pune division, 486 professors working in 42 senior colleges will receive their due honorarium payments before Diwali.
The disbursement, set to add to the professors' festive spirit, has been facilitated by the timely submission of proposals and government deposits totaling ₹3.27 crore, according to officials from the Joint Director of Higher Education, Pune Division.
