Pune: The intensity of rainfall in Maharashtra is expected to decrease slightly over the next three days. Between July 29 and 31, the likelihood of heavy rain will reduce in 15 districts, including the entire Marathwada region, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur.

Only moderate rain is expected in these districts, according to retired meteorologist Manikrao Khule. From Thursday, August 1, heavy rainfall is expected to return to these districts. Moderate rain is likely to persist for a week until Saturday, August 3, in the eight districts of Marathwada.

In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, and Hingoli, although current crops seem fine, there is still a great need for heavy rain. The behavior of the monsoon in August will determine the future in these areas.

In 14 districts, including Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalgaon, and the entire Vidarbha region, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to continue from tomorrow for a week until Saturday, August 3. There is no change in the forecast for extremely heavy rainfall in Mumbai and seven districts of Konkan.

Although dams are overflowing, there is still a need for heavy rainfall to fill minor projects and the Jaikwadi reservoir in Marathwada, as well as to satiate the thirst of agricultural lands and replenish wells in Maharashtra. Farmers might have to wait until the end of August for this, Khule predicted.
