Maharashtra: Digitally signed property card now available online

Pune: The Land Records department of the state government has now provided the facility of obtaining a digitally signed online property card to citizens with just a click. The department had earlier facilitated online issuance of 7/12 documents with a digital signature.

The online property card facility can be accessed by citizens for a fees of Rs 135 for properties in Municipal Corporation jurisdiction, while Rs 90 for properties in Municipal Council and Rs 45 for properties in Rural District areas.

In an attempt to digitise the process, the department of land records is implementing a digitisation scheme. As a part of this initiative, it has offered citizens the facility to obtain online 7/12 documents with a digital signature just by paying a fee of Rs 15.

This facility has proved to be very convenient for citizens, sparing them from tedious processes. This initiative has turned out to be hugely popular with a few lakh citizens already taking benefit of this facility.

The land records department has simultaneously undertaken a project to digitize the property cards of citizens staying in the Municipal Corporation, municipal council and rural areas of the state.

This project is in its last phase and hence citizens will soon get their property card with a digital signature at just a click of a button. Earlier, the state government had not decided the amount of fee to be charged for this online facility, but recently it took this decision.

Issuing an order regarding the same, Dr Santosh Bhogale, Joint Secretary of Revenue Department of the state government has solved the issue of citizens having to visit the talathi office or land records office for these documents.

50 lakh cards in the state

There are about 50 lakh property cards in the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Rural areas of the state. The land records department has also undertaken a project to create property cards of villages having a population of 2000 citizens or more. These cards will also be available online, once the project is over.
