MPSC results: Why Deputy Collector Parvani Patil got trolled for clearing exam second time?

Pune: "Before trolling me, please try to understand my situation," requested Deputy Collector Parvani Patil, who has got trolled for two days after she cleared the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination for the second time in last three years. "Even I am against reappearing for competitive exams if you have been shortlisted for a particular post, but my case is different, please understand," she said. 

Parvani is being trolled online and accused of being responsible for a candidates’ loss of missing selection for a post by just one mark. Around 2.5 lakh students in the state prepare for the competitive exams every year, but very few - typically in hundreds - get selected for the plum government job posts. The low number of vacant seats, tough competition to get selected and uncertainty over the exams and results being declared has added to the students’ anger.

Parvani said, "I had been selected for the Tehsildar post after I cleared the MPSC exam in 2017. But the declaration of result for this exam was delayed by one year. It was declared in May 2018, but it was challenged in the court over the reservation issue. Meanwhile, I had attempted the 2018 MPSC exams too. When the 2017 batch was called for training, the result for 2018 exam batch was also declared. I had given preference for Deputy Collector post in the 2018 main exam. But I didn't get enough marks to qualify for that post."

"Almost 21 months passed by, still the 2017 batch was not inducted by the government. Meanwhile, MPSC released the advertisement for 2019 exams and it was for 420 seats. Even while appearing for this exam, I had given only one preference that too of Deputy Collector post. I appeared for the main exam in July 2019 and got good marks. The batch of 2017, 2018 and 2019 was going to be called in together for training. Meanwhile, the court pronounced judgment in the 2017 batch case and many girls got promoted to the next grade. I was also promoted to Deputy Collector rank," Parvani clarified.

"Some girls, however, challenged the court decision in the 'Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal' (MAT). Meanwhile, as per court order, our training started on September 27, 2019. Even though I was undergoing training for the Deputy Collector post, the decision was pending in MAT. So I was not sure whether that post is confirmed and whether MAT will decide against us. That prompted me to go ahead with the 2019 results," Parvani stated.
