Mumbai: Ahead of the festive season of Christmas and New Year, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has once again decided to make special arrangements for party goers. The MSRTC has decided to launch the Mumbai Central to Panaji bus route. The bus will ply from Mumbai Central on Wednesday. It will operate in the evening, departing Mumbai Central depot at 4.30 pm reaching Panaji, the next morning.
WHAT IS THE ROUTE
Originating from the Mumbai Central depot, the bus will ply to Panaji via Chiplun, Kankavali, Sawantwadi and Mhapsa. According to the officials from MSRTC, they are hopeful that this new route will attract tourists and will play a vital role in generating revenue for the board.
TICKET PRICE
Rs 965 is fixed for a single journey between Mumbai Central and Panaji. There will be one bus service regularly. The bus will depart from Mumbai Central at 4:30 pm and the Panaji depot at 4:00 pm daily. Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, the state government had decided last month that passengers arriving from Goa, Maharashtra and Delhi would require to produce COVID-19 negative certificate.
Meanwhile, Goa borders have been reopened, tourists have started flooding the coastal state ahead of Christmas and New Year parties. Though visiting Goa is not a bad thing and in fact, should be endorsed but a few tourists have been found venturing around some places without a face mask and putting everyone at the risk of contracting the viral COVID-19 infection. Also, when asked to wear a face mask, several tourists have been reportedly arguing with the authorities unnecessarily.
That’s why the state government has recently declared that wearing a face mask is compulsory while roaming around the places. In case you are found without a mask, you will be snapped and have to pay a fine of Rs 200. Uday Madkaikar, Mayor of Panaji, has said that the Goa police are free to click photographs and impose a fine on the rule offenders.
