Pune: The total water storage in four dams under the Khadakwasla cluster has reached 26.70 TMC (91.60 per cent) till Wednesday morning at 8 am. Discharge from Panshet dam is currently 3,908 cusecs. Vijay Patil, Executive Engineer of Irrigation Department informed that the discharge of water from Khadakwasla dam into Mutha river has been reduced to 5,985 cusecs.
The four dams in the Khadakwasla cluster - Temghar, Varasgaon, Panshet and Khadakwasla - at present have total water storage of 26.70 TMC (91.60 per cent). Last year, the water storage in this cluster was 29.11 TMC (99.88 per cent).
Panshet dam was filled 100 per cent on Monday night. Rainfall activity has receded in the catchment areas of the dams. In the last 12 hours till Wednesday (August 19) morning, 8 am, the catchment area of Temghar dam received 40 mm of rainfall while Varasgaon received 25 mm, Panshet 26 mm and Khadakwasla dam catchment area received 6 mm of rainfall. However, the Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rainfall in the next few days in Ghat regions including some dam catchment areas.
At present, Panshet, Kalmodi, Nazare and Andra dams in the district are at filled to 100 per cent capacity. Bhatghar, Nira Deodhar, Veer, Wadaj, Kasarsai, Khadakwasla and Gunjavani dams are almost full. The water storage in Ujani Dam has reached 60 per cent.
