Major Drug Bust in Katraj: 21 Lakhs Worth of Mephedrone Seized, Two Arrested

Anti-Narcotics Squad received information that Rajput and Bishnoi were coming to the Katraj area on a two-wheeler to sell mephedrone.

Pune: In a significant operation, the Anti-Narcotics Squad of Pune's Crime Branch arrested two young men from Rajasthan for attempting to sell mephedrone (MD) in the Katraj area.

The police seized 106 grams of the drug, valued at ₹21.38 lakhs, along with a two-wheeler, bringing the total seizure value to ₹22.58 lakhs.

The arrested individuals are identified as Shravan Singh Balwantsingh Rajput (age 22, originally from Nayanagar, Barmer district, Rajasthan) and Mahesh Punarambishnoi (age 20, originally from Kushalawa, Jodhpur district, Rajasthan).

Both are currently residing in Tuljabhavaninagar, Kharadi area. According to the police, the Anti-Narcotics Squad received information that Rajput and Bishnoi were coming to the Katraj area on a two-wheeler to sell mephedrone.

Acting on this tip-off, the squad set a trap and apprehended the duo. Upon searching them, the police found 106 grams of mephedrone worth ₹21 lakhs. A case has been registered against the two accused at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station under the NDPS Act.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Amol Zhende, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Satish Govekar.

The Anti-Narcotics Squad-2 team included Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad, Police Sub-Inspectors Ramkrishna Dalvi, Digambar Chavan, and constables Chetan Gaikwad, Ravindra Rokde, Prashant Bomadandi, Sandeep Jadhav, Mayur Suryawanshi, Disha Khewalkar, Sahil Sheikh, Sandeep Shelke, Nitin Jagdale, Azim Sheikh, Yuvraj Kamble, and Dinesh Bastewad.
