Pune: In a major crackdown on narcotics, the Pune Police Crime Branch has seized narcotics valued at around ₹1 crore from Tingrenagar, Lohgaon. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shrinivas Santosh Godje (age 21, resident of Dhanori), Rohit Shantaram Bende (age 21, resident of Lohgaon), and Nimish Subhash Abnave (age 27, resident of Vighnaharta Apartment, Tingrenagar, Lohegaon).
According to the complaint filed by Police Constable Sandeep Damodar Shirke at Vishrantwadi Police Station, the Anti-Narcotics Squad received information that three individuals were present at Vighnaharta Apartment in Tingrenagar and were suspected of possessing narcotics.
Acting on this tip-off, the police visited the location and found the three individuals standing by the roadside.
Upon searching them, the police recovered 471 grams of Mephedrone (MD), four mobile phones, a two-wheeler, a car, and two electronic weighing scales. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be ₹1,89,460.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Additional Police Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner Amol Zende, and Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Satish Govekar. Police Inspector Ulhas Kadam is leading the investigation.
Member of Parliament from Pune Loksabha constituency Murlidhar Mohol had recently asked Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to setup a dedicated task force with specialized human resources to tackle the drug menace in the city.
