Pune: The Malegaon Cooperative Sugar Factory in Baramati has been honored with the prestigious "Best Sugar Factory" award for 2024 by the Deccan Sugar Technologists Association India.
The award was presented in Pune on Saturday (August 24), recognizing the factory’s outstanding achievements in sugarcane crushing, providing the highest prices to farmers, and maintaining financial stability.
Under the leadership of Chairman Adv. Keshavrao Jagtap, Malegaon has set new benchmarks in the cooperative sugar industry, becoming a leader in the state.
The factory's administration, along with its board of directors, has played a pivotal role in achieving this success. Harshavardhan Patil, President of the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF), presented the award, acknowledging Malegaon’s exemplary performance.
During the 69th annual convention of the Deccan Sugar Technologists Association, Patil praised the Malegaon factory for its contributions to the sugar industry, highlighting its record-breaking cane crushing and innovative approach to sugar production. The event was attended by key officials, including Vice Chairman Tanaji Devkate, Executive Director Ashokrao Patil, and other dignitaries.
In his address, Adv. Jagtap emphasized the factory's commitment to advancing agriculture and allied businesses, noting that Malegaon has become a model for others in the industry.
He outlined the factory's future goals, which include increasing sugarcane productivity, achieving technical excellence, focusing on financial management, and ensuring transparency in sugar sales and import-export policies.
