Pune: A 15-year-old girl from Pune has filed a complaint against a 21-year-old man, Harsh Mahendra Mahadik, for blackmailing her and taking her mother's gold jewelry worth ₹20.66 lakh.
The complaint was lodged at Market Yard Police Station, leading to the registration of a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the police, the complainant and the accused, Harsh Mahadik, were in a relationship. They attended parties at different hotels. While engaged in a relationship with her, Harsh took the girl to various places, and filmed their encounters.
Later, Harsh claimed to be in significant debt and asked the complainant to provide collateral. The girl, without her mother's knowledge, handed over the jewelry piece by piece to Harsh.
Over time, he managed to take jewelry worth ₹20,66,820 from her. The girl, unaware of the gravity of the situation, secretly gave him the jewelry over several months.
Recently, the girl's mother discovered the jewelry was missing and questioned her daughter, who revealed that she had given it to Harsh. When the complainant asked Harsh to return the jewelry, he allegedly bit her finger and physically assaulted her.
After failing to recover the jewelry, the girl filed a police complaint. The case is being investigated by Assistant Police Inspector Patil, with charges filed under the POCSO Act.
