Man Sentenced to 24 Years for Sexually Assaulting Sisters

Pune: In a case involving the abduction and assault of two minor sisters, a man has been sentenced to 25 years of hard labor and fined Rs. 7,500 by the court.

The incident, which occurred at their uncle's house, involved the promise of marriage to lure the girls away and then sexually assaulting them. Two minor accomplices were also involved in the crime.

Additional Sessions Judge S. R. Salunke delivered the verdict, sentencing Dhananjay Sakharam Rajivade.

The crime took place on April 4th and 5th, 2015, in Warje. Rajivade, with the help of two minor boys, abducted the 14- and 16-year-old sisters under the pretext of marriage.

Rajivade and his accomplices threatened to kill the girls' father and uncle and then took the girls to a village in Pune district and another in Solapur district, where they sexually assaulted them.

A charge sheet was filed against Rajivade and the two minors. Special Public Prosecutor Nitin Konghe handled the case for the prosecution, examining 11 witnesses, with the testimony of the victims being crucial.

The court deemed the crime anti-social, and Advocate Konghe argued for the maximum possible punishment to set a positive example in society.

The court accepted the prosecution's argument and delivered the sentence, noting that failure to pay the fine would result in additional imprisonment.
