Pune: In a recent development, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar issued a show-cause notice to Manorama Khedkar, the mother of trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar.

The notice demands that Manorama Khedkar explain why her gun license should not be revoked, with a response required within ten days.

As no one came forward to receive the notice, it was pasted outside the Khedkar residence. The notice follows a complaint by a local farmer who accused Manorama Khedkar and others of threatening him. Consequently, Pune Rural Police filed a case against her under the Arms Act.

The viral video shows Manorama Khedkar brandishing a pistol and intimidating citizens in Dhadwali village, Mulshi taluka. The Khedkar family had acquired 25 acres of land in the village, and it is alleged they attempted to seize neighboring land as well.

When local farmers resisted this land-grabbing attempt, Manorama Khedkar reportedly arrived with bouncers and threatened them with a pistol.

The farmers tried to file a complaint at the Paud police station, but initial reports suggest the complaint was not registered due to external pressure, raising questions about who might be backing the Khedkar family.

Puja Khedkar, an IAS officer from the 2023 batch, gained notoriety during her tenure as a trainee officer in Pune. Following the controversy, she was transferred to Washim.

Puja has been in the spotlight for her demands and actions, including allegations of misusing her authority and demanding privileges not entitled to trainee officers. Notably, she installed a red beacon on her personal Audi car, which is against protocol for probationary officers.
