Maratha Kranti Thok Morcha Protests Outside Modi Baug
Pune: In a bid to intensify the demand for Maratha reservation, the Maratha Kranti Thok Morcha is set to stage a protest today outside the Pune office of Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar, located in Modi Baug.
The protest, led by the Morcha's coordinator Ramesh Kere Patil, is part of their ongoing "Jawab Do" (Answer Us) campaign, aimed at pressuring political leaders to clearly state their position on the Maratha reservation issue.
For the past year, activist Manoj Jarange Patil has been spearheading the movement, organizing awareness campaigns and peaceful rallies across Maharashtra.
These rallies have garnered massive public support, reflecting the widespread sentiment for the cause. The Morcha's strategy includes targeting the homes and offices of political leaders from various parties to ensure their commitment to the Maratha reservation demand.
In anticipation of the protest, a significant police presence has been deployed to maintain order and prevent any potential unrest. Sharad Pawar's faction of the Nationalist Congress Party has responded by mobilizing their own supporters, with Pune city president Prashant Jagtap leading a group of party workers at the site.
FC Road: BJP Workers Booked for Anti-Street Vendor Protest
Pune police have registered a case against several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers following their protest against illegal street vendors on Fergusson Road, which led to significant traffic disruptions.
The protest, held on Saturday evening near Wadeshwar Hotel, was led by BJP worker Ujjwala Jitendra Gaud and included 15 to 20 participants.
The demonstrators aimed to draw attention to the issue of unauthorized street vendors, but their actions violated existing prohibitory orders and caused traffic congestion, prompting police intervention.
A formal complaint was lodged by Police Constable Anuradha Mulik at Deccan Police Station, leading to the filing of charges against the protesters.
The investigation is currently being conducted by Sub-Inspector Shelke, as the police seek to enforce compliance with city regulations and maintain public order.
