Pune: A minor has been apprehended for stealing and driving a car. The Anti-Robbery and Vehicle Theft Squad arrested the youth and uncovered three separate vehicle theft cases involving him. Police seized a two-wheeler, a rickshaw, and a car as part of the operation.
The investigation began when police constable Saikumar Karke, working on a vehicle theft case, received a tip-off from an informant. The informant reported that a person was standing near an open ground in the MHADA Colony, Warje, with a stolen car.
Acting quickly, the police arrived at the location and detained the minor. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the Santro car in his possession had been stolen from the Warje area.
Further inquiries led to the recovery of other stolen vehicles, including a two-wheeler and a rickshaw, totaling assets worth ₹1.45 lakh. The police have registered the minor's involvement in three vehicle theft cases, shedding light on his operations within the city.
This successful operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nikhil Pingle, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ganesh Ingle, and Senior Police Inspector Nandkumar Bidwai of the Anti-Robbery and Vehicle Theft Squad.
Several officers, including Assistant Police Inspector Pravin Kalukhe and Police Sub-Inspector Shahid Shaikh, contributed to the operation alongside a team of diligent constables.
The involvement of minors in criminal activities, especially organized vehicle theft, remains a matter of concern for the police.
