Pune: The body of a 19-year-old differently-abled youth who had been missing since Saturday (August 17) evening was discovered in a well near Burkegaon on Sunday, according to the Lonikand police. The deceased, identified as Gaurav Bhausaheb Bhorde, had reportedly died by suicide.

Gaurav, who regularly went out for exercise, left his home in Dongargaon on Saturday evening but did not return, prompting concern among his family members.

After they were unable to contact him as his mobile phone was switched off, they launched a search and eventually reported him missing to the Lonikand police.

Despite an extensive search by both the family and the police, Gaurav remained untraceable until his body was found in the well.

Initial speculations suggested accidental drowning; however, after a detailed investigation, the police confirmed that it was a case of suicide. The incident has been officially recorded as an accidental death, said Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad.

Recently, a 21-year-old youth, identified as Anup Lokhande, ended his life at the Nityanand De-Addiction Center in Hinjewadi, allegedly for denying supply of narcotic pills. The incident was discovered on Tuesday (August 6) morning at approximately 6 AM.

Anup Lokhande, a resident of Tadiwala Road, had been struggling with an addiction to narcotic pills. He reportedly obtained these pills from the son of a local liquor vendor, Raju Pawale.
