Motorcycle Rider Arrested for Assaulting Police During Checkpoint

Pune: In a recent incident near Magarpatta Main Gate, a motorcycle rider was arrested after he verbally abused and physically assaulted police officers during a routine checkpoint.

The rider, identified as Madhukar Sardarsingh Theng, also known as Patil, resides at Kubera Vihar in front of Sanjivani Hospital, Hadapsar.

The event took place at approximately 12:15 AM on October 10. Police Constable Gokul Bhosale filed a complaint at the Hadapsar Police Station following the incident.

According to police reports, Bhosale was on duty at the checkpoint when Theng approached from the opposite direction on his motorcycle.

When stopped, Theng was asked to show his driving license. However, upon suspicion that he had been consuming alcohol, officers requested him to take a breath analyzer test.

Theng refused to comply, instead resorting to verbal abuse against the officers and making false claims that they were soliciting money, thereby defaming the police.

Despite attempts by Bhosale and Police Inspector Khande to calm him down, Theng escalated the situation by rushing at them, grabbing their collars, and pushing them. As a result, the police arrested Madhukar Theng. Assistant Police Inspector Berge is currently investigating the incident.

Recently, a female police constable, Ashwini Bansode, was assaulted by a young woman selling bangles on the footpath. The incident happened at the Belbaug Chowk on Shivaji Road. The officers were aiming to prevent any disruption to the VIP visit by removing unauthorized street stalls when the assault took place.
