Nana Kate finally withdraws from Chinchwad Assembly Constituency
Pimpri: Nana Kate on Monday decided to withdraw his nomination papers after meeting Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Nana Kate had filed his nomination as an Independent candidate from Chinchwad constituency.
In Chinchwad, there will be a direct fight between Shankar Jagtap of the BJP and Rahul Kalate of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) faction.
Today is the last day for withdrawal of nominations. Nana Kate was adamant on contesting the elections till this morning. On the other hand, Nana Kate had said that Ajit Pawar's decision was final. So all eyes were on Nana Kate's role.
He has finally withdrawn his nomination. Ajit Pawar had recently met Nana Kate and sought his understanding. Earlier, Nana Kate had contacted Sharad Pawar and discussed withdrawing the nomination.
Kate himself gave this information. Mahayuti's official candidate Shankar Jagtap had also met Nana Kate as today was the last day for withdrawal of nominations. He finally backed out today.
Sharad Pawar's Rahul Kalate will be pitted against BJP's Shankar Jagtap. Rahul Kalate is contesting for the fourth time from Chinchwad assembly constituency. Shankar Jagtap is contesting the Assembly elections for the first time. His sister-in-law Ashwini Jagtap is currently the MLA from here.
