Pune: A daring robbery took place late Friday (September 27) night at the "Madhushala Beer and Wine Shop" located on the Pune-Satara Highway in Nasrapur, with thieves making off with ₹4.10 lakh in cash and the store’s CCTV DVR system.
The theft was discovered early Saturday morning by shop owner Uday Nandakumar Alhate (age 32), who immediately alerted the police.
According to Alhate’s statement, he had locked up the store as usual on Friday (September 29) night, but when he was heading to the gym the next morning, he noticed that one side of the shop’s shutter had been pried open.
Fearing a break-in, he inspected the shop and found that while the inventory was untouched, ₹4 lakh, set aside for supplier payments, was missing from the counter.
To further his shock, the store’s CCTV DVR, which stored footage from the security cameras, had also been taken.
Alhate quickly reported the incident to the police through the emergency helpline 112. Rajgad police were swift to respond, arriving at the scene to begin their investigation.
The police have registered a case against unknown assailants, and Police Sub-Inspector Dhaware has been tasked with leading the investigation.
The theft has raised concerns among local business owners regarding security in the area, particularly along the busy Pune-Satara Highway. Law enforcement agencies are now focusing on tracking down the culprits using available evidence and local intelligence.
