The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) recently declared guidelines on consumption and safe handing of eggs and poultry egggs amid bird flu.
The guidelines, objected at creating awareness among Food Business Operators (FBOs) and consumers, states that cooking meat and eggs at 74 degree Celsius is safe. FSSAI also said that eating appropriately cooked meats and eggs is safe even if those foods carried the virus.
Here is a list of Do's and Don't's recommended by FSSAI amid bird flu:
- Eat eggs, chicken and their products after cooking.
- Avoid direct contact with birds in the infected areas.
-Avoid touching dead birds with bare hands.
- Do not eat half-boiled eggs.
- Do not eat undercooked chicken.
-One must use face mask and gloves at the time of handling raw chicken.
-Maintain the cleanliness in the vicinity
-Never keep raw meat in open.
-Wash hands frequently.
Meanwhile, the outbreak of bird flu has been reported in nearly 13 states in country including Maharashtra, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
