The Ministry of Railways said that at the Indian Army's request, it ran Rajdhani Express to its maximum speed in Ranchi. It helped reach the train to Barkakana station 17 minutes earlier to provide more time for Army jawans to load their luggage.
Informing on the same, the Ministry of Railways on Tuesday on Twitter said, "The Indian Railways, at the request of the army, drove the Rajdhani Express train at maximum speed and reached the station 17 minutes ahead of the scheduled time, to provide additional time for the jawans and their luggage to board."
"We understand the requirements of our military forces and are always committed to fulfill them," the ministry said, along with sharing a newspaper article reporting the incident.
According to the reports, 100 army personnel from Ramgarh need to visit Delhi by Rajdhani Express. For some reason, it looked difficult to move to Ranchi station, thus the jawans chose Barkakana. However, Rajdhani only halts for five minutes at this station which was very less time for jawans to load their luggage.
The department of Ranchi Rail Division planned to run the Rajdhani Express ahead of the schedule. At a maximum speed, the train reached Barkakana station at 7.08 pm. It arrived 17 minutes ahead of the scheduled time.
