New Delhi: Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu, who is named by the Delhi Police in its FIR in connection with the Republic Day violence at the iconic Red Fort in Delhi was arrested on Tuesday.
Delhi Police on Tuesday cleared that Deep Sidhu was arrested by the Special Cell of the department. However, the police did not reveal the location from where he was nabbed. Delhi recently had declared a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh each for data leading to the arrest of prime accused in farmers’ tractor rally violence on January 26 in Delhi. According to multiple reports, the police had also declared cash reward for information leading to the arrest of Sidhu along with, Jugraj Singh, Gurjot Singh and Gurjant Singh.
The Punjabi actor Sidhu had earlier uploaded a video on his Facebook handle in which he was seen talking in Punjabi and stating that he did nothing wrong.
According to the police, all those named in its FIRs were purportedly involved in hoisting a religious flag (Nishan Sahib) at the Red Fort and the ferocity which was reported on the Republic Day. With this, the Delhi Police strengthened its probe into the violence and the chaos unleashed during the farmers’ tractor rally on Republic Day and hurled a big search against 12 rioters identified by it.
The police are currently identifying the suspects in riot who were responsible for the ruckus on January 26 in the name of farmers’ tractor parade.
