New Delhi: International Women's Day is marked on March 8 every year. The day celebrates the social, economic cultural, and political achievements of women.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted women on the occasion of the International Women's Day. He said the country takes pride in their many events.
Prime Minister Modi, on his Twitter wrote, “Saluting our indomitable #NariShakti on International Women's Day! India takes pride in the many accomplishments of the women of our nation. It is our Government's honour to be getting the opportunity to work towards furthering women empowerment across a wide range of sectors.”
President Ram Nath Kovind also greeted and shared his wishes on social media. He wrote, “On the occasion of International Women's Day, greetings and best wishes to all fellow citizens. Women in our country are setting new records and achievements in various fields. Let us collectively resolve to promote gender justice and eliminate inequality between women and men.”
Vice-President of India M Venkaiah Naidu on his Twitter handle wrote, “My Greetings on the occasion of #InternationalWomensDay. On this day, let us resolve to uphold the dignity and respect traditionally accorded to women in our culture. #WomensDay” His another tweet read, “We must also resolve to end all forms of discrimination against women and ensure a safer environment for them so that they can make the best of their capabilities.”
Meanwhile, the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #ChooseToChallenge, representing that a “challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change”.
