Pune: As the demand for electricity continues to grow with new connections, MSEDCL (Mahavitaran) Chairman and Managing Director Lokesh Chandra has emphasized the need for efficient planning of the distribution system, considering space availability.

He suggested that if necessary, proposals should be submitted for the division of department or sub-department offices to further enhance customer service and expedite complaint resolution.

Chandra made these remarks during an inspection of Mahavitaran's first green energy-powered electric vehicle charging station in Ganeshkhind, Pune.

The charging station, located at Prakash Bhavan, is powered by a 60 kW rooftop solar energy project. The inspection was attended by Chief Engineer Rajendra Pawar and Superintendent Engineers Arvind Bulbule, Yuvraj Jarg, and Sinhaji Rao Gaikwad.

During the visit, Chandra also reviewed various initiatives within the Pune division. He highlighted that significant customer-oriented reforms are expected through several schemes, including the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, the Chief Minister’s Solar Agriculture Pump Scheme, and the Revised Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), which aims to strengthen the power system.

Chandra underscored the importance of effectively implementing these schemes to ensure customers benefit from them.

In the past two months, the rooftop solar energy project at the Ganeshkhind charging station has generated 14,400 units of electricity. Electric vehicle owners are being charged ₹13 per unit for charging, according to Deputy Executive Engineer Santosh Patni.
