Only Light Vehicles Allowed on Mundhwa-Ghorpadi Railway Bridge: Heavy Traffic Banned
Pune: The Wanawadi Traffic Division of Pune Traffic Police has announced new traffic regulations for vehicles passing through the Ghorpadi Railway Bridge, particularly affecting routes connecting the War Memorial, Ghorpadi, and Mundhwa areas.
According to this directive, vehicles traveling from War Memorial to Mundhwa via the Ghorpadi Railway Gate will now be rerouted through Kendriya Vidyalaya Junction and Ghorpadi Police Chowky.
As per the new guidelines, only two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheeled passenger cars will be permitted to travel over the Mundhwa and Ghorpadi Railway Bridge (Solapur Railway Line) towards War Memorial.
The restrictions will prohibit entry for all types of four-wheeled freight vehicles, heavy and oversized vehicles, as well as all types of buses, including PMPML (Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited) buses.
For vehicles restricted from entering this zone, an alternate route has been provided. Such vehicles can bypass the restricted area by using the Ghorpadi Railway Overbridge (Solapur Railway Line), then proceed straight along B.T. Kawade Road and head towards their desired location via Sopane Bagh Junction to Solapur Road.
The authorities have encouraged citizens to submit any suggestions or objections in writing regarding these traffic regulations. The submissions can be made between September 11 and September 25, 2024, at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Control Branch, located at Bungalow No. 6, Jail Road, Yerawada Post Office, Pune.
The final decision on these regulations will take into account citizens' feedback. However, vehicles providing essential services, such as fire brigades, police vehicles, and ambulances, will be exempted from these restrictions.
These new regulations are expected to improve the traffic flow and safety in the area. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Amol Zhende, has emphasized the importance of public cooperation in the implementation of these rules.
