Pune: Maratha community activist Manoj Jarange Patil has made a decisive move by supporting Sachin Taware’s independent candidacy in Parvati assembly constituency for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Elections.
Taware, who filed his nomination accompanied by a strong gathering of supporters and the slogan “Ek Maratha, Lakh Maratha,” aims to represent Maratha community interests in Parvati under Jarange's guidance.
Sachin Taware, once a loyal member of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), chose to leave the party after not being granted a ticket.
Now, Taware will contest as an independent candidate to address the concerns of the Maratha community. His campaign has quickly garnered attention as a potential new beginning for the Maratha community in Parvati, with hopes of solidifying representation for the community in the constituency.
With approximately 130,000 Maratha voters in the area, the impact of Taware’s campaign could be substantial. Jarange has organized two public rallies to support Taware’s candidacy, set to be held in Bibwewadi and Hingne.
These events will serve as platforms for Jarange to discuss Maratha issues, emphasizing the need for rightful representation and social empowerment within the community. The rallies are expected to reinforce Taware’s promise to prioritize the development of Parvati.
Since 2009, Parvati has remained a stronghold for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has re-nominated sitting MLA Madhuri Misal to defend the seat.
However, Taware’s entry as an independent candidate poses a new challenge, particularly with the sizable Maratha voter presence in the constituency.
Taware has assured voters that his campaign will focus on the development of Parvati, asserting, "Parvati’s development is our main issue."
