Pune: In two separate incidents of violence in Pune, one rickshaw driver was left with a fractured hand following a dispute over passenger pick-up, while a young man sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a group over a compensation dispute related to a vehicle collision.
In the first incident, a fight broke out between two rickshaw drivers at a rickshaw stand near Pavilion Mall on Senapati Bapat Road on Sunday night.
The altercation occurred when one driver, identified as Krishna Jadhav (42), began abusing the other driver, Deepak Hanumant Jadhav (44), over waiting in line for passengers. The situation escalated when Krishna Jadhav pushed Deepak, causing him to fall and fracture his left wrist. A complaint has been filed at Chatuhshringi Police Station, and the police are investigating the matter.
In the second incident, a young man was attacked with a sickle and an iron rod by a group of five individuals in Kamarajnagar, Yerawada.
The attack stemmed from a dispute over compensation following a collision between a two-wheeler and a rickshaw.
Bilal Mohammad Sayyed (27, resident of Gadital, Yerwada) has filed a complaint at Yerwada Police Station. The police have registered a case against Adil Sayyed, Taufiq Sheikh, Sufiyan Sheikh, Najmuddin alias Pappu, and Asif Khan (all residents of Kamarajnagar, Yerwada). The incident occurred around midnight on Sunday at Kamarajnagar in Yerwada.
According to the police, there had been a collision between a two-wheeler and a rickshaw at Gunjan Chowk involving Nawab Nisar Sheikh and Adil Sayyed. A dispute arose over compensation for the damages from the accident.
During the altercation, the accused started abusing the complainant, and Adil Sayyed assaulted Asif Sheikh. Asif Khan then attacked Asif with a sickle, injuring him. Taufiq and Sufiyan further assaulted Asif with a sickle and an iron rod, causing serious injuries to his head and hands. Assistant Police Inspector Sawant is investigating the case.
