Pune: An assistant teacher at a school in Andgaon has been arrested for allegedly molesting 19 female students. The accused, identified as Jalindar Namdev Kamble, was taken into custody by Paud police following a series of complaints lodged by the students and the school management.
According to the police, Kamble, who was employed as an assistant teacher, engaged in inappropriate behavior while teaching, including using vulgar language and physically assaulting the students.
The matter came to light when members of the school’s executive committee visited the institution on September 5 to investigate allegations against Kamble. During this visit, 19 students courageously stepped forward to submit written complaints detailing the teacher's misconduct.
The complaints revealed a pattern of predatory behavior by Kamble. He reportedly used explicit language in the classroom, wrote obscene words on the blackboard, and even blindfolded a student to hug her, releasing her only after other students raised an alarm.
Kamble’s actions included invading the students' personal space, whispering into their ears, yelling, touching their hands, and on some occasions, physically assaulting them by banging his head on theirs.
Despite the students' resistance, Kamble continued his abusive conduct, leading to heightened fears and distress among the students. Following the complaints, the school administration promptly lodged a formal complaint with the Paud police, who subsequently arrested Kamble. He is currently facing charges of sexual harassment and assault under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The incident has sparked outrage among parents and the local community, raising serious concerns about the safety and welfare of students in educational institutions.
Authorities have assured a thorough investigation into the matter, and the school management has pledged to cooperate fully with the ongoing inquiry. The safety of the students remains a top priority as the investigation proceeds.
