Pimpri: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's (PCMC) initiative to involve citizens in the budgeting process has seen an overwhelming response, with over 1,000 suggestions submitted so far.

The campaign encourages citizens to engage in identifying and addressing city issues, proposing solutions, and suggesting projects for the upcoming budget. The PCMC is urging residents to participate by submitting their suggestions online.

To enhance awareness, PCMC has collaborated with an organization visiting multiple colleges to explain the importance of this initiative. These representatives are educating students on how municipal budgets impact city infrastructure and services like roads, parks, and water supply.

They are also highlighting how students can contribute to the budgetary process by offering their insights and suggestions. As a result, many students are actively participating by scanning QR codes in their classrooms to submit their feedback.

For the awareness campaign, the PCMC is effectively using around 500 garbage collection trucks that operate in the mornings. The awareness message is broadcast through these trucks, ensuring that it reaches every alley and neighborhood in the city.

The campaign also leverages crowds at various industrial companies, government offices, hospitals, labor markets, and the crowds gathered during Janmashtami at various temples.

Large gatherings on the streets for Dahi Handi and the citizen forums organized by the municipal corporation every Monday are also being extensively used for promotion. The effective use of social media has been another highlight of this awareness campaign.
